Crackdown on peddlers in Mansa district

The Mansa police today carried out a massive search operation with an aim to identifying drug peddlers and seize narcotics in the district.

The drive led to the recovery of 28 kg of poppy husk, 414 liquor bottles, 130 sedative pills, 5 gm of smack and 20 litres of lahan. Twelve persons, including a woman, were arrested in the operation that was carried out at Bareta, Budhlada, Bhikhi, Jhunir, Sardulgarh and Joga areas of Mansa district.

Mansa SSP Narinder Bhargav said, “We had constituted different teams led by three SPs and four DSPs, who led 750 cops to conduct the search operation at nine different towns/villages based on the information received regarding drug trade there. We ensured involvement of the people while carrying out the exercise. Sarpanches and panchayat members were taken along during the raids in villages.”

He said they would continue their drive against drugs in the coming days. On a query regarding black sheep in police force, he said they were seized of the matter and were taking all measures to deal with it.
