Jalandhar boy becomes first youngest International Master in Chess

JALANDHAR: Dushyant Sharma of Cambridge International School does state proud by completing the norm for Punjab’s first and youngest International Master in Chess at the Czech Republic.
This class X boy made his presence remarkable in the Czech Republic Grandmasters Open International Chess Tournament held between July 20 to 27. “In the nine-round event, he gave a tough fight and won three rounds. Five rounds were draw while one round he lost to a player of Grandmaster level”, said Divya, Mother of Dushyant.
Dushyant is now required to clear two more IM norms and maintain a rating of 2,400 Elo points. After gaining 78 points in the Czech Republic, Dushyant’s current rating is 2,246, she said.
She said, “Getting an IM norm at such a young age is incredible. This shows his amazing talent and the hard work he has put in.”
